Specialises in
Having grown up in Nottingham, I studied medicine in London and qualified from the Imperial College School of medicine. Having developed an interest for womens health, I undertook all my postgraduate training in the East Midlands region. I am now working as a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist in the region.
I have a variety of interests within both sides of the discipline. My Gynaecological interests include menstrual disorders, endometriosis, polycystic ovarian syndrome and other hormonal disorders. I also provide services for women having problems with prolapse and urinary symptoms. I am also happy to provide advice for women entering the menopause - regarding their treatment options and hormone replacement therapy (HRT).
I have developed a special interest for women suffering from a variety of skin conditions affecting the vulval region including lichen sclerosis and vulval pain syndromes. I have set up a dedicated vulval service within my NHS practice. I am happy to offer investigation and advice for women suffering with fertility problems, recurrent miscarriage as well as offering pre-pregnancy counselling for women with medical conditions. I am also experienced in counselling women who have suffered complications from childbirth or who have had adverse childbirth experiences.
I am competent in all general gynaecological procedures, both open and keyhole, such as ovarian cyst and ovary and fallopian tube removal. I undertake both open and laparoscopic hysterectomies. I carry out investigative and treatment procedures eg diagnostic hysteroscopy and endometrial ablation. I am also experienced in vaginal surgery for prolapse.
I have a strong interest in medical education. I regularly teach medical students and am active in the postgraduate school of obstetrics and gynaecology in the East Midlands deanery. I currently hold a position as Quality Lead and have a role in safeguarding standards of specialty training within the hospitals in the region.
