Join us for our free Cosmetic Surgery event on Wednesday 31 January.
Some of the principal treatments carried out by Miss Laura Sheppard at Spire include:
Musculoskeletal disorders and orthopaedics
Spinal pain and scoliosis
Laura trained at Northumbria University in Newcastle in 2005 and began her rotations through the various areas of medicine at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge. She specialised in musculoskeletal physiotherapy in 2007. In 2009, Laura gained registration with the New Zealand Physiotherapy Board and ventured to the Southern Hemisphere where she gained experience working in a private clinic, with a large caseload of sports-related injuries and where there was a strong bias towards manual therapy. Since returning to the UK in 2010, Laura has worked in both private practice and GP surgery settings. She has worked on the orthopaedic wards here at Spire Norwich Hospital on weekends since December 2013, and joined the outpatient team in February 2015. Laura has been a Pilates Instructor since 2007, teaching numerous classes on a weekly basis, as well as performing one-to-one 'Clinical Pilates'. Laura is trained in ante-natal and post-natal Pilates also. Laura has a mild scoliosis, which has led her to develop a special interest in the area. Visceral manipulation (gentle mobilisation of the organs) is a unique skill within Laura's 'toolbox', which she feels completes the picture of the assessment and treatment of the human body and biomechanical problems. Laura is passionate about physiotherapy and health, and is very focused on identifying and treating the primary cause of a problem, in order to ensure full resolution and prevention of recurrence and optimal self-management and quality of life.
