Specialises in
I am a Consultant Ophthalmologist at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital and Cromer Hospital. I specialise in cataract surgery and diseases of the retina. After graduating from University College London Medical School, I completed my basic medical and surgical training and then joined the East Anglia Specialist Ophthalmology Training rotation. During this time I gained valuable experience and in-depth knowledge of all sub-specialities within ophthalmology. I developed a special interest in retinal diseases early on in my training. As part of my training I worked at Moorfields Eye Hospital which provided further valuable knowledge and experience.
I am currently Clinical Lead of the Age-Related Macula Degeneration (ARMD) service at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital. I continuously aim to improve the service to ensure patients always receive the highest quality of care. The service provides comprehensive care from diagnosis through to all treatment options for patients with wet and dry ARMD. My other areas of interest include cataract surgery, diabetic eye disease and retinal vascular (artery and vein) occlusions.
I have a holistic approach to patient management and feel strongly about patient information and education being a vital part of management and success. I always take time to discuss diagnosis and treatment options to ensure patients are fully informed before any decisions are made. I have extensive experience using intravitreal Lucentis and Avastin injections and retinal laser treatments. I am a lecturer at the UEA and co-founder of EARS (East Anglian Retinal Society).
