During this time I was detached to the RAF War Hospital in Bahrain for the first Gulf War and later as a consultant, served twice in the Military Hospital in Bosnia. Cardiology training was mainly undertaken at the John Radcliffe Hospital Oxford. In 1997 I was appointed as the only interventional cardiologist in the Armed Services.
