Some of the principal treatments carried out by Dr Sunil Nair at Spire include:
Heart failure, valvular heart disease
I studied medicine at Guys and St Thomas’s Hospitals and undertook cardiology training at a number of London hospitals. I was selected as an advanced speciality trainee in cardiac imaging at Kings College Hospital, the Royal Sussex Cardiac Centre and the Heart Hospital. In 2012 I was appointed as a consultant cardiologist at the Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital to bring my experience in cardiac imaging and the management of cardiomyopathies to the region. Since my move to the NNUH I have now set up a dedicated clinic for the assessment and management of patients with, or at risk of developing heart muscle diseases, such as hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Additionally I have developed and expanded the non-invasive cardiac imaging departments at both NNUH and James Paget University Hospital with new services such as stress echo at JPUH and stress MRI at NNUH. Cardiac CT at JPUH is in the pipeline for later this year.
My main interests are hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, other cardiomyopathies, heart failure, all forms of echocardiography, cardiac CT for the evaluation of chest pain and coronary artery disease and cardiac MRI for the assessment of heart structure and function, significance of coronary artery disease and for advanced characterisation of heart muscle looking for inflammation, oedema and scar.
My main aim is to ensure sufficient time and explanation for my patients to have a clear understanding of the issues at hand, such that they can make an informed contribution to their own management.
My unique, advanced expertise in performing and reporting specialised cardiac imaging enables the best diagnostic tool and therefore the most appropriate therapeutic pathway and management.
