Dr Briars is a children's gastroenterologist and offers a full range of medical services for intestinal complaints in children from birth through to teenage years. In addition to clinic consultations he offers endoscopic services (diagnostic and therapeutic gastroscopy and ileo-colonoscopy). In his NHS practice he has been a consultant children's gastroenterologist in East Anglia since 1998, with substantive contracts at the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital and West Suffolk Hospital. He has held honorary contracts at Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge and St Bartholemews and The Royal London Hospitals. He is a UK graduate and has undertaken training in the UK and Australia. He keeps himself up to date and maintains clinical standards by attending national and international conferences, by engaging in peer review of his practice and through engaging in research. He is enrolled in the RCPCH continuing medical education scheme. Through his work at the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health and at The British Society for Paediatrics Gastroenterology Hepatology and Nutrition over the past five years, he has played a significant role in the development and maintenance of the standards for junior doctors training in children's gastroenterology and endoscopy.
