"As a consultant at Spire hospitals it is a real pleasure working with such a committed team in facilities designed for the optimum patient experience."
I have been a Consultant Cardiologist since 2012 with specialist interest and expertise in cardiac imaging techniques. Such expertise means that whether a patient presents with chest pain, breathlessness or palpitations, I am well positioned to provide timely and accurate diagnosis recognising the merit of each test or procedure.
My other professional interests include the delivery of medical education as well as sports cardiology and inherited diseases of the heart.
I hold trans-thoracic echo accreditation with the British Society of Echocardiography and have regular stress echocardiography lists as well as being adept at transoesophageal echocardiography. I was awarded Cardiac CT accreditation at the British Society of Cardiovascular Imaging in 2011 and perform CT coronary angiography as well as invasive coronary angiography.
My management centres on honest discussion, patient involvement and recognising that the treatment must always be tailored to the individual.
In addition to my clinical work, I am an honorary lecturer at the University of Sheffield. I am also deputy training programme director for core medical training in West Yorkshire
Some of the principal treatments carried out by Dr Tom Mwambingu at Spire include:

Outside of work, I enjoy nothing more then spending time with my wife and two children. I still maintain a passion for sport that has stayed with me since childhood, especially football, and I am a keen runner. If I ever get the time, I plan to improve my fairly rudimentary grasp of the guitar.
