Professional profile

I qualified in Physiotherapy in 2004 from Brunel University. I gained experience in all physiotherapy specialties including hands, burns and plastics in 2005. In 2008 I focused solely on the field of Burns, Plastics and Hand therapy at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital before moving to the Pulvertaft Hand Unit, Derby in 2009. I worked as a locum hand therapist from 2014-2015 in the northwest, based out of Blackburn hand therapy department. I commenced working within Spire Manchester in January 2015 in which I work as the specialist hand and wrist Physiotherapist/hand therapist working closely with numerous hand surgeons within Spire and accepting external referrals from multiple surgeons.

I have gained extensive experience in the management of hand and wrist trauma, pathologies including brachial plexus injuries. Further pathologies listed below.

I was appointed as the physiotherapy team leader September 2015 and then promoted to Physiotherapy Manager June 2017.

Trauma: Amputations, Brachial plexus injuries, Crush injury, Dislocation, Fractures, Management of flaps and skin grafts, Multitrauma, Tendon repairs, Volar plate injury. Elective: 2 stage flexor tendon repairs, Arthrolysis, Carpal Tunnel Release, Cubital tunnel release, Dupuytren's (Dermofasciectomy, Fasciectomy, Needle Apponeurotomy and Xiapex®/Collagenase), Joint fusions, Joint replacements, Osteomies, Tendon transfers, Tenolysis, Thoracic outlet release, Trapeziectomies, Trigger finger release, Wrist stabilisations. Other: Activity modification advice, Carpal tunnel syndrome, Cubital tunnel syndrome, Exercise progression, Hypermobility, Kinesiology taping, OA management, Scar management, Soft tissue massage, Splint recommendation and advice, Tendinopathies, Thermoplastic splint fabrication.

I am known for my dedication to providing premium patient care. I have extensive splinting and therapeutic management skills regarding hand and wrist injuries and surgery.

I have developed a hand therapy exercise App “CORE Hand” which is now in use within the Pulvertaft Hand Unit Derby.

Further to my Physiotherapy specialism I am also the Physiotherapy Manager here at Spire Manchester and I am a hand Therapy foundation course trainer for Kinesio UK.
