Professional profile

I am a specialist in shoulder, elbow and upper limb disorders for which I offer an exclusive practice with a comprehensive array of treatments. I have a particular interest in keyhole and open surgery for rotator cuff disorders, joint instability, stiffness, tendon and arthritic conditions. I am a specialist in treating complex injuries and fractures of the upper limb.

My NHS practice is based at Salford Royal Foundation Trust which is the North West’s regional major trauma centre and one of the leading hospital trusts in the UK.

I graduated with honours from the University of Birmingham in 2004. My early surgical training took place in the West Midlands, before returning to Manchester for specialist orthopaedic training. This culminated in being awarded the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in 2012.

I undertook fellowship training at the renowned Wrightington Upper Limb and Stockport Shoulder units. I was awarded the prestigious ESSKA (European) travelling fellowship, which I undertook in 2015 with a leading international surgeon in shoulder and sports surgery in Milan, Italy. At the 2017 British Elbow and Shoulder Society conference I was awarded the coveted Mayo Elbow fellowship, for which I will travel to the USA to work alongside and exchange ideas with other leaders in the field.

I have produced a number of authoritative articles and book chapters on the management of upper limb and orthopaedic conditions. I have published and presented my work internationally with multiple prize-winning accolades. I am the lead for research at Salford Royal and the principal investigator in national orthopaedic research, which keeps me at the cutting edge of modern shoulder and elbow surgery.

In my spare time, I enjoy playing cricket, racquet sports and travelling with my family.
