Professional profile

I graduated from Cambridge University in 1978 and continued my clinical studies at the Westminster Hospital in London, obtaining a medical degree from London University in 1981. I moved to Manchester in 1984 where I developed an interest in urological surgery.

I trained at a number of centres around Manchester including Manchester Royal Infirmary and University Hospital of South Manchester. I was awarded an MD for research into kidney function whilst working at the renowned Stepping Hill Hospital Department of Urology under the mentorship of Mr. Patrick O’Reilly. It was at this institution that I took up my consultant position in 1995.

My specialist interests include female urology, endourology (stone surgery) as well as general urology. I am an examiner in Urology for the Royal College of Surgeons and sit on the national SAC for Urology. I am a member of the British Association of Urological Surgeons
