Professional profile

Fellowship trained in Australia, I have now completed 14 years as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, maintaining a full-time NHS practice as well as working in the private sector.

I am a member of a group of Orthopaedic specialists (OrthTeam) who collaborate on teaching regularly through the year, with therapists as well as doctors (both in primary and secondary care) attending our teaching days.

I teach both doctors and physiotherapists at Salford University on the Orthopaedic Diploma course, as well as part of my NHS commitments.

I am faculty on two national arthroscopic teaching courses for both shoulder and elbow techniques, training fellow consultants as well as junior doctors in up-to-date surgical techniques in minimally invasive surgery.

Personal Profile

I am married to Dione who is a practising musculoskeletal physiotherapist, and we have three children, our oldest at Nottingham University. When I have time, I manage to keep fit at a local gym and run, as well as play golf.

I won a Full Blue playing for Cambridge University in football, which I am very proud of, and was captain of the
2nd XI whilst an undergraduate.

During my Fellowship in Australia, I completed the Melbourne half marathon (1hr, 43mins).
