With increasing demand for GP appointments putting pressure on waiting times, the new GP service at Spire Little Aston Hospital offers patients greater flexibility, and quick access to private healthcare consultations and diagnosis.
Clinics are held between 12:30-14:30 Monday to Thursday, and 18:30–20:00 Tuesday to Friday. A Saturday morning clinic from 09:00–11:00 is also available providing patients with a choice of access to GPs at a time to suit them.
Local GP Dr Sarah Wright is part of the four-strong team of GPs at the new practice. She has been a GP for nearly a decade and has particular interest in sexual health issues and dermatology.
She said: “For patients who want to discuss a sensitive medical issue, have concerns about their wellbeing or just want a second opinion now have the option to see a GP quickly and at a time convenient to them. This can be of huge benefit and reassurance to the patient who may be anxious about a health matter, wants a discreet and confidential service with another GP other than their current one, and would like to access a medical professional quickly.”
Dr Wright is joined by Dr Vinit Kundra who has been a GP locally since 1999. He has a special interest in diabetes. Dr Kundra, who qualified from Birmingham University, also has over 15 years’ experience training GPs.
The other members of the new team include Dr Muneir Khan and Dr Chris Howland. Dr Khan, who also qualified from Birmingham University, has held several medical positions including occupational health physician, independent life insurance medical examiner and disability analyst.
Local GP Dr Howland has been working in Sutton Coldfield for nearly 15 years having qualified from the London Hospital Medical College. He specialises in diabetes and musculoskeletal disorders.
Appointments for a consultation at Spire Little Aston Hospital are 20 minutes long, reflecting the practice’s commitment to patients’ needs. There is also a ‘well-being’ health check available which actively assesses patient’s current health and identifies any risks to prevent problems in the future. The facilities are spacious and modern providing patients with a comfortable, relaxed, prompt and efficient service. GP services also include blood tests, sexual health and a wide range of family medical services for men, women and children.
Being part of Spire Healthcare, access to in-house treatment or, where needed, referral to specialists, ensures patients will have quick access to quality medical expertise.
The GP services are complementary to a patient’s existing GP service so there is no need for patients to de-register with their current GP.
