Professional profile

I am an Orthopaedic Consultant Surgeon working at Little Aston Spire Hospital in Sutton Coldfield and the Manor Teaching Hospital NHS Trust. I completed my Specialist Training on the Birmingham Rotation, I spent some time in Southampton and in Sheffield with recognised advanced fellowships gaining experience in shoulders, elbow surgery, hand and wrist and soft tissue injury surgery. My primary interest is to achieve excellence in the management of the upper limb problems, without compromise and I also provide a sports injury related service with comprehensive experience in all sports related injuries.

I have a large practice in the irreparable cuff and offer a comprehensive service with InSpace Balloons, Superior capsular reconstruction and Reverse Shoulder Arthroplasty. I have a practice in Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) lipo cells, stem cells and Monocytes. These products are made from substances that are naturally found in your body. When they are used in higher concentrations, Orthobiologics substances help speed up the healing process. Some key benefits associated with Orthobiologics conservative therapies include minimising the impact of the degenerative disease, all procedures are completed in the office as an outpatient and recovery is more rapid than surgery.

I'm also pioneering in Needle Arthroscopy as a day case procedure in clinic for diagnosis in patients who are contraindications for MRI scan with issues such as; claustrophobia, overweight or with pacemakers etc.

I undertake more than 200 upper limb arthroscopies per year. I also undertake 50 shoulder and 10-15 elbow replacements per year. I have recently set up a website for the dissemination of information that has something of interest for the GPs, patients and physios.

I enjoy the stimulus of teaching, I believe it benefits the tutor as well as the student. I consider it an integral and vital part of my own continuing education. I routinely present lectures on topics during orthopaedic teaching programs and teach students from The University of Birmingham. I am also invited to the regional orthopaedic training programme to present and Chair meetings. I am on the faculty for the basic surgical skills for junior doctors and GPs. I'm also on the faculty for preparing registrars to take the specialist examination in Trauma and orthopaedics.
