Professional profile

I strive to remain a safe, competent, knowledgeable and skilled orthopaedic consultant who is respected and liked by my peers, colleagues and patients. I am passionate about regular patient involvement while making important decisions about the treatment that they receive. My clinical judgments are based on years of experience, published clinical literature and the latest research and are highly personalised to the needs of the individual. I have been practising orthopaedics since 1999 and have a vast experience of treating various orthopaedic problems in all age groups of patients; from high-performance elite athletes to elderly patients with arthritis, at both national and international levels.

My interests lie in the sub-speciality of adult lower limb reconstruction. Thanks to my fellowships in internationally recognised centres (Toronto and Nottingham) and experience from two premier training areas in the UK (Oxford and Leicester), I have enormous experience of performing hip and knee replacement procedures, arthroscopic procedures, ligament reconstruction, sports injuries and foot and ankle problems.

I have also been exposed to advanced techniques such as the use of endoprosthetic replacements for salvage procedures in revision arthroplasty. I particularly offer partial knee replacement and cartilage regeneration procedures to suitable patients. I also specialise in treating refractory and difficult tendon problems with novel therapies.

I have been practising orthopaedics for over 19 years and have been involved in over 3000 orthopaedic and trauma procedures.

I have a very strong interest in research as evidenced by my PhD from the University of Oxford. I have over five book chapters, 25 original papers in peer reviewed journals and over 40 academic presentations at national and international conferences. I am particularly interested in implant design, biomechanics and the application of mechanical engineering principles to the field of orthopaedics. Consequently, I have established strong links with the Universities of Oxford and Leeds, which allow me to be part of several collaborative projects.

I have a significant interest in teaching and training. I am an ATLS Instructor and have been formally teaching students from the Universities of Oxford, Nottingham, Bristol, Toronto, Glasgow and Nottingham. I particularly enjoy preparing registrars for the FRCS (Tr. and Orth.) examination. I have organised various academic events and have been a faculty on a number of educational courses.

I pursued my fellowship at the prestigious arthroplasty unit in Nottingham, where I learnt how to manage complex hip and knee problems. I also travelled to pursue fellowships at the Endoclinik, Hamburg and Lyon Orthopaedic Centre, learning how to improve satisfaction levels in patients and dealing with difficult problems. I then moved to Toronto, Canada to pursue further fellowship in sports injuries/medicine.
