During my sixteen year career in NHS Mental Health Services engaged in specialised training in Behavioural Therapy (now known as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy or CBT) and Child & Family Therapy. I was appointed a Special Projects Officer appointed to undertake research into areas of mental health care. After a year in health management I developed a private practice, expanding my clinical repertoire to include Hypnotherapy, EMDR, EFT, (both of these therapies excellent modern treatments). My EMDR, Hypnotherapy and CBT training also equip me to treat psychological trauma of all types, including that arising from historical, childhood experiences in adults.
I have successfully treated people with Anxiety, Depression, Child & Family Problems, Behavioural and Compulsive Disorders including comfort eating, smoking, alcohol, Drugs, The Effects of Abuse, Violence and Domestic Abuse, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Adjustment Disorders, Anger Management, Pain & Chronic Pain Management
Within my practice I see people who are referred by doctors, people who self refer and those from within the medico legal world, referred by personal injury specialist law firms as a consequence of an industrial injury, a victim of crime, medical negligence or an event such as a car accident.
In addition to my clinical work I was an associate lecturer at The University of Leeds on post graduate health courses and I have recently been appointed as Associate Lecturer at The University of Lincoln for graduate studies.
