Mr Christopher Shaw
Orthopaedic Surgeon

Specialises in
Virtual consultations:
I am a Consultant in Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgery. I was appointed as a consultant in Hull in 1997. In addition to general orthopaedic surgery, I have specialist interests in shoulder, hip and knee surgery.
I completed medical training at the universities of Cambridge and Oxford and then higher surgical training at Guy’s/St Thomas’ and in the South East. As part of my specialist training, I worked at Guy’s with one of the principal figures in British shoulder surgery at the time, a founder of the British Elbow and Shoulder Society - of which I am a member. I also worked at St Thomas’ in the unit where one of the major hip replacement systems was developed, a system which continues to give very good results and which I continue to use.
In addition to my clinical work, I am Joint Medical Director for Surgery at the Hull University Hospital NHS Trust, giving me a wide insight into the practice of surgery in general.
