We're approved by the Australian Government Department of Immigration and Border Protection to provide visa medical and radiological (X-ray) examinations for people planning to visit or live in Australia. Visa medicals, X-rays and blood tests can all be arranged and performed at the same appointment.

All our centres are eMedical clinics, which means we can process your health examination online and provide a quicker visa turn-around than traditionally-handled paper copies.

Why you might need it

You will generally need to have a medical examination if you're planning to live permanently in Australia.

You may need to have a health assessment if you're applying for a temporary visa. This is dependent on certain criteria including the type of visa you want, the amount of time you're planning to stay in Australia, your intended activities during your stay, and if you have 'significant' medical conditions.

The Australian Government has a list of approved physicians who can carry out the visa medical assessments. We have approved doctors at selected Spire hospitals.

We advise you to thoroughly check the type of medical required on your visa application. We are unable to act in an advisory capacity.

Spire Hartswood Hospital offers a one-stop service for Australian visa medicals. We are approved by the Department of Immigration and Border Protection, Australia to provide visa medical and radiological (X-ray) examinations for people planning to visit or live in Australia. All of the required components of the examination, including panel doctor consultation, blood tests and X-ray, can be carried out at Spire Hartswood Hospital in Brentwood, Essex.

We are a designated eMedical Centre, which enables us to process your medical application quickly and securely online, improving the turn-around time of your visa application.

We try to provide appointments to suit your needs. If you're in a hurry, we often have appointments available at short notice or if there's no urgency, you can schedule your appointment well in advance.

Spire Hartswood Hospital is conveniently situated just outside of the M25, with good transport links to London and the South East. We offer free car parking to patients and visitors, subject to availability.
