Clinic availability at Spire Hartswood: Tuesday evenings.

I am an experienced Upper Gastrointestinal (GI) and Bariatric (weight loss) surgeon. I qualified from the University of Glasgow with MBChB in 1990, and did my Basic Surgical training at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. After this training period I joined Royal Free Hospital in London to do Master of Surgery at the University of London. My Specialist Registrar training was in the London Deanery. After my CCST, I spent one year as a Senior Clinical Fellow in Royal North Shore Hospital, Sydney, Australia, learning advanced Upper GI & Bariatric surgery.

I joined Homerton University Hospital in East London as Consultant Bariatric and Upper GI Surgeon with the intention of contributing as much as I could to patient care. Homerton's Bariatric Surgical Unit serves the largest number of patients in the UK. Among my current clinical interests are single-port and minimal-access surgery.

The main operations I currently perform are: Bariatric (weight loss surgery) – Single-port and laparoscopic gastric banding, laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy; Upper Gastrointestinal (GI) Surgery – including single-port laparoscopic cholecystectomy, fundoplication, and hiatus hernia repair; General Surgery – including single-port laparoscopic hernia repair operations and day case surgery.

Consultant Upper GI, Bariatric & General Surgeon, Homerton University Hospital, East London.

Currently, I am doing an Executive MBA at the Judge School, University of Cambridge. After qualifying, I will be able to apply this knowledge into the business & management side of healthcare. During my Fellowship in Australia, I developed an interest in the didgeridoo and now I enjoy playing it with my children! Outside medicine, my other interest is researching the connection of the Indus Valley civilisation to the myth of Atlantis. I also enjoy playing cricket.
