Spire Harpenden are introducing the brand-new Rafaelo procedure with Mr Amin, Consultant General Surgeon

The problem

Haemorrhoids (or piles as they are commonly known) are generally an unspoken curse from which many of us suffer but are too embarrassed to discuss with our loved ones, let alone our GP. They are enlarged vascular ‘cushions’ just inside or around the bottom (anus and lower rectum), thought to be caused by a variety of factors but commonly constipation, diarrhoea or excessive straining. They are very common; it has been estimated that up to 50% of the population may suffer from symptomatic haemorrhoids at some point in their lives*.

The solution

After three years of development and over 2,000 patients being successfully treated across Europe with outstanding results, we are able to offer the Rafaelo Procedure. Using the safe and established technology of radiofrequency ablation, the Rafaelo procedure can be performed on a walk-in, walk-out basis. It does not require a general anaesthetic and you will be able to return to your normal daily activities immediately after treatment. The Rafaelo procedure is designed to treat haemorrhoid grades 1–3. Some grade 4 haemorrhoids may be reduced but it is unlikely that they will not reach a complete resolution, which often will require surgery.

You can walk-in and walk-out, unlike other surgical treatments for haemorrhoids, and you can be back at work the next day rather than needing three weeks to recover. It is expected you will be virtually pain free after the procedure and your symptoms should improve almost immediately.

Spire Harpenden are thrilled to be the only hospital in Hertfordshire currently able to offer Rafaelo treatment.

If you have haemorrhoids which are between grades one, two or three Rafaelo could be the treatment for you. It is perfect for those with busy lives, as you can get back to your daily activities straight away.

How much?

The treatment is available for £1,950 for those funding their own treatment.

If you would like a consultation with Mr Amin about Rafaelo you can book an appointment by calling us on 01582 714 420.
