Some of the principal treatments carried out by Mr Daniel Goh at Spire include:
Refraction- adults and children Low vision assessments- adults and children Medical Contact lens fitting-adults and children Complex cases
I qualified from City University London in 1992 and have been a specialist optometrist for over 15 years with experience in adult and paediatric low vision, complex refraction, specialist contact lenses, glaucoma and diabetic eye screening. I was a senior optometrist at High Wycombe and Amersham Hospitals in south Buckinghamshire for over 10 years before being appointed lead optometrist at Luton & Dunstable University Hospital in January 2015.
I am able to fit the full range of medically indicated specialist contact lenses for those with challenging irregular corneal conditions such as keratoconus, pellucid marginal degeneration and after corneal graft surgery (including scleral, soft and hybrid lenses). I am also able to fit prosthetic lenses in cases of ocular disfigurement and bandage lenses for ocular surface problems such as recurrent corneal erosion syndrome. I have a particular interest in maximising the vision of those with serious visual impairment, helping them lead independent lives. I am able to provide practical advice and source the latest high quality low vision aids, both electronic and optical. During my NHS clinics I have taught many optometrists, visual rehabilitation officers and doctors. I have also lectured at local and national events on various aspects of low vision including visual hallucinations related to eye disease, the subject of my Master’s degree dissertation.
I am experienced at dealing with complex cases and accept referrals from colleagues and self-referrals from patients who feel they may benefit from detailed optometric assessment.
