Dr Veronique Bataille

I see all dermatology conditions including skin diseases in children. I also perform minor surgery for the removal of skin lesions. My expertise is in melanoma and moles (atypical naevi and the atypical mole syndrome), as well as familial melanoma but I also see all types of skin cancers.
I completed my dermatology training in London and worked in several teaching hospitals as a registrar and senior registrar in dermatology. In 1995, I finished my fellowship for Cancer UK on the genetics of melanoma and have since carried a lot of research on skin cancers. In 1996 I became a consultant dermatologist at Barts and the London NHS Trust where I pursued my clinical and research interest in melanoma. In 2004, I joined the West Herts Trust as a consultant dermatologist based at St Albans and Hemel Hempstead Hospitals where I practice general dermatology and also run specialised melanoma clinics.

I am originally from Belgium and have practiced as a doctor in this country for 20 years. I trained at the Louvain Medical School in Brussels and moved to London as a senior house officer in 1985. I started my dermatology training in 1988 and worked at Barts and the London, St Thomas and St George's Hospitals.
I also have had a busy academic career with research into melanoma and genetics of skin diseases in twins with a PhD in 1995.
I am married with two children and enjoy skiing, sailing, gardening, cooking, baroque music, ballet and opera.
