Dr Sadgun Bhandari
I qualified as a doctor in India and have trained in Psychiatry in India and the United Kingdom. After completing my higher psychiatric training at the Royal London Hospital training scheme I have worked a consultant for the last 14 years. Since 2005 I have worked as a consultant psychiatrist in Hertfordshire in Welwyn Garden City and am currently based in Hatfield.
I have extensive experience as a General Adult Psychiatrist working in Out-patient, In-patient and community settings, consequently I have developed expertise in diagnosing and treating the whole range of psychiatric disorders including anxiety and panic disorder, OCD, phobias, mood disorders including depression and bi-polar disorder, psychosis, schizophrenia, neuropsychiatric disorders and related conditions.
I have a keen interest in teaching and training and have been teaching on the University College London MRCPsych training programme for the past 16 years. I have also contributed two chapters to a popular textbook of Psychiatry, currently in its third edition. I have also been a college examiner for over ten years.
I am actively involved in the activities of the Royal College of Psychiatrists and have in the past been elected to the general adult faculty executive committee and am currently the Chair of the Eastern Division of the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
I believe that a therapeutic alliance is key to successful outcomes and is best developed by a collaborative approach. In addition, management needs to be holistic - combining psychological and pharmacological treatments.

Outside of psychiatry, being from India I am inevitably a keen follower of cricket. I enjoy cinema but wish I had more time to follow this interest.
