Talking about gastric sleeve surgery

How much does Gastric sleeve surgery cost at Spire Elland Hospital

It’s a common operation to have done privately, and our inclusive prices and access to payment plans make it easy and more affordable, even if you don’t have medical insurance.

The price shown is the ‘from price’ (ie the minimum cost of the procedure). Please note that for some procedures the actual price you are quoted may vary significantly and can increase depending on your choice of Consultant (who is an independent practitioner and not an employee of Spire). The fees charged by Consultants and Anaesthetists are set independently and are outside the control of Spire. The price may also vary depending on the type of anaesthetic, implant or drug used, and your medical history.

Spire Elland Hospital can provide you with a single, fixed price for your procedure so there are no surprises. Please read Spire Healthcare's terms and conditions for full details of what’s included and excluded in your fixed price when paying for yourself. Finance options are available through our partner Omni Capital Retail Finance Ltd, 10 Norwich Street, London, EC4A 1BD.

Getting here

Spire Elland Hospital is situated just 2 minutes’ drive from the M62 motorway. Public transport options are available. We have free on-site parking for you and your visitors.

Your consultations

When you come to your first appointment, you’ll have a chance to meet one of our team of bariatric specialists in one of our 13 private consultation rooms, all of which have easy access. During your consultation, your consultant will talk to you about your medical history. They’ll be able to explain:

  • The different options for surgery
  • What’s involved, including the anaesthetic and any risks or complications
  • The kind of tests you’ll need before your surgery

There’ll be plenty of time to discuss any questions or concerns. You might find it helpful to think of some questions beforehand and make notes during your consultation.

You’ll need to have a pre-operative assessment before your operation which may include:

  • An electrocardiogram (ECG)
  • Blood tests
  • Endoscopy

Gastric sleeve surgery: your procedure

When you arrive on the day of your surgery, we’ll show you to your own private en-suite room where you’ll have access to all the facilities you’d expect, including:

  • TV/radio
  • En-suite
  • Window
  • Armchair
  • Wardrobe

You’ll meet your consultant, anaesthetist and the surgical team. Before the operation, you’ll be given a general anaesthetic and once ready, your consultant will carry out the surgery to remove part of your stomach.

The surgery usually takes one to two hours, but you’ll stay in hospital for up to two days after.

Your aftercare and recovery

After surgery, our nursing team will care for you and ensure you have adequate medication to help you deal with any discomfort from the surgery.

Once you leave hospital, we’ll have follow-up appointments with you one month, three months and six months after your operation to check on your recovery and progress. A dietitian will provide monthly support and is available over the phone should you need any advice or help outside of your consultations.
