Men can be notoriously bad at visiting their GP’s even though they have concerns about urinary and prostate health.
Some may find these concerns difficult to discuss or a visit to their doctor unsettling, which is why we offer direct access to expert advice and reassurance in a comfortable and discrete surrounding.
Dr Manu Shah, Consultant Dermatologist and specialist in male genital skin problems, says men often wait months or years with a genital skin problem before seeking help. He has reviewed the last 600 men he has seen in his genital skin clinic and reports over 80% clearance of disease with medical treatment alone.
Dr Shah says “Contrary to popular belief thrush almost never exists in men. The common penile diseases are lichen sclerosus (BXO), balanitis, eczema, psoriasis and lichen planus. However, I see increasing numbers of malignant and pre-malignant penile lesions”.
“Movember” is the ideal time to raise awareness of men's health issues such as prostate cancer and testicular cancer and remind them that their genital health is important.
Dr Shah is able to see men in the confidential and comfortable clinic setting at Spire Dewsbury Clinic.
