After qualification as a doctor in 1985 I specialised in oncology completing specialist training at Istanbul University in 1991. Subsequently I moved to Dokuz Eylul University in Izmir, Turkey and became professor to the UK in 2004, having obtained my CCST in clinical oncology in 2003. Currently I work as a Consultant Clinical Oncologist based at St James's Hospital in Leeds. However, I am a core member of the Huddersfield and Calderdale breast multidisciplinary team delivering radiotherapy services for breast cancer. I am also an active member of the Yorkshire Cancer Network breast group. My other area of interest is non surgical oncology treatment (chemotherapy and radiotherapy) of head and neck cancer. I am a core member of the Leeds and York head and neck multidisciplinary teams and also currently chair the National Cancer Research Network head and neck clinical studies, systemic treatments and radiotherapy subgroup.
