Mrs Lorraine Aitken
BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy
I qualified as a Physiotherapist with a BSc (Hons) in 1995. I started out working in a large hospital gaining experience in many different areas of Physiotherapy. In more recent years I have worked in Occupational Health which involved treating musculoskeletal conditions including many back and neck problems. This role also involved assessing workplaces and advising on work practices.
At Spire I am involved in the Back and Neck Rehabilitation service. We have excellent facilities at Shawfair in the purpose built gym with specialist equipment.
I am also a member of the Acupuncture Association of Physiotherapists and use acupuncture regularly as part of treatment programmes.
Some of the principal treatments carried out by Mrs Lorraine Aitken at Spire include:
A GP or medical referral is required for all outpatient appointments at Spire Edinburgh Hospitals.
Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP)
Acupuncture Association of Physiotherapists (AACP)
Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
In my spare time I enjoy long walks with my two dogs and spending time with family. I am also a beekeeper looking after 5-10 hives. I am heavily involved in my local beekeeping association where I am a trustee and mentor.
