I am a Consultant General Surgeon with a major sub-specialty interest in oesophago-gastric disorders, both benign and malignant. I have had a long term interest in laparoscopic surgery, particularly related to treatment of gastro-oesophageal reflux, gall stones and abdominal wall hernias. In addition to these elective interests I also have an interest in emergency surgery and have contributed towards the re-organisation of emergency surgical services in the UK.
I am currently on the Patient Safety Board of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and have helped to develop training courses to improve patient safety in the peri-operative period.
