Mr John F Keating
Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon
MPhil, FRCS (Ed) (Orth)
Specialises in
I was trained in Dublin, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Vancouver and appointed as a consultant orthopaedic surgeon in 1994 to the Royal Infirmary and Princess Margaret Rose Hospitals in Edinburgh.
My main clinical interests are in the management of knee injuries and sports injuries in general. I run the knee clinic at the Royal Infirmary which deals with a large number of patients with knee problems (including knee replacement), but principally has an emphasis on the management of acute knee injuries in sports. My Spire Murrayfield practice reflects this pattern but I also deal with general orthopaedic referrals.
I am involved in clinical and basic research, mainly related to knee disorders. In addition to clinical and research work, I am currently the patient services director at the Royal Infirmary for the trauma unit and am presently serving a 4-year tenure on the editorial board of the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery.
Some of the principal treatments carried out by Mr John F Keating at Spire include:
