Professional profile

Availability - Spire Shawfair: Thursday 10m-12noon.

I graduated from the University of Edinburgh in 1994. Following postgraduate training in Edinburgh and Dundee I gained his MRCP in 1997. My MD was awarded in 2005 for the study of the utility of thrombin injection for the treatment of bleeding peptic ulcer. I undertook a year long clinical fellow post in London in 2004 focussing on ERCP and hepatobiliary medicine and during this time developed my interest in autoimmune pancreatitis and IgG4 disease.

In my current post as consultant gastroenterologist at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh I am professional lead for endoscopy services in Lothian. In my daily practice I see patients for investigation and treatment of a range of luminal gastroenterology symptoms and conditions. I am a JAG assessor for the quality assurance of endoscopy units nationally. I work in Spire Shawfair Park's endoscopy suite which holds JAG accreditation.
