If you’re already a bit uncomfortable with your body, have been shocked by the recent headlines highlighting that obesity-related hospital admissions have risen by 15% in England, or seen the bus stop adverts linking obesity with Cancer, you’ve probably done a Google search to find out about medical help for weight loss. But seeking clinical help can be a hard decision to make and there may be questions you want answered but don’t know who to ask, before booking an appointment. Why not come and ask our Consultants, in an informal environment, about how you could move forward towards better health?
The evidence is there and you’ve probably seen the stats - 40,000 premature deaths in the UK could be avoided over the next 10 years if the number of obese individuals could be reduced. If the level of obesity remains at the current level, rather than rises, there would be 9,400 fewer deaths, research has shown (by Novo Nordisk, presented at the European Congress of Obesity in Glasgow earlier this year).
Rates of type 2 diabetes have also soared in parallel with the rise in obesity. It could be that your GP has mentioned you may suffer from this life-changing condition if your weight remains as it is. You may have started on a GP led weight loss program but don’t feel it’s getting you anywhere, and the summer of 2019 was too hot to be dressed in clothes that hide your excess weight.
Join us on 25 September, from 6pm and meet our weight loss team here at Spire Dunedin Hospital. You can ask Consultants questions about weight loss surgery, talk to our dietitians about the change in your eating habits and lifestyle and meet the nurses and administrators who will support you towards your weight loss goal, in a relaxed friendly atmosphere.
Don’t become another statistic. Book your place now by phoning Janet Marshall on 0118 955 3597 or complete the booking form below.
