Specialises in

I was trained at St Bartholomew’s Hospital Medical School, qualifying in 1997. I gained membership of the Royal College of Physicians in 2000 and was made Fellow in 2006. I completed my MD thesis in Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance at The Royal Brompton Hospital in 2006, and trained in cardiology in London, Bristol and Australia.

I was appointed Consultant Cardiologist at the Royal Berkshire Hospital (RBH) and visiting Consultant Cardiologist at the Royal Surrey County Hospital in 2009. I am a clinical lead for cardiac imaging at the Royal Berkshire Hospital and have established a successful cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) service in Reading and have overseen a rapid expansion of the CMR service at the Royal Surrey County Hospital. I have also set up the CMR at Spire Clare Park.

I have been asked to speak at regional and national CMR meetings and review manuscripts for peer reviewed journals.

I am trained in all aspects of general cardiology, with particular interest in the non-invasive assessment of chest pain, breathlessness and cardiac dysfunction.

I am a cardiology specialty tutor at the Royal Berkshire Hospital, responsible for the cardiology training of junior doctors. I run a combined obstetric cardiology clinic once a month with Dr Jill Ablett. After the Royal Berks achieved departmental accreditation for echocardiography, I now inspect the echo departments of hospitals applying for British Society of Echocardiography for the same award. I am co-director of the echocardiography course for intensive care doctors (FICE). This course has been running for five successful years at the RBH.

I supervise and lead the training programme for the Physician Associate at the Royal Berkshire Hospital. I'm also the cardiologist BUPA use to review and report the ECG's from the wellness centres across Southern England.

I run an outreach clinic at the Boathouse Surgery, Pangbourne.
