Consultant Urological Surgeon and Andrologist
BMedSci, BMBS, FRCS, FRCS(Urol)
Some of the principal treatments carried out by Professor Ian Pearce at Spire include:
Management of Peyronie's disease, insertion of penile implant surgery, bladder cancer diagnosis, prostate cancer diagnosis
I have been a Consultant Urological Surgeon and Andrologist since 2002 and have a specialist interest in men's health. I am one of the largest volume Andrologists in the UK with expertise in Peyronie's disease and erectile dysfunction, having trained in Miami, Madrid and the UK. I have trained in The Midlands, North West England, Madrid and Miami.
In addition to core urological care (including benign prostate disorders, urinary tract infections and female urinary incontinence) my specialist interest is in male sexual health, including Peyronie's disease and erectile dysfunction. I am the country's largest implanter of penile prostheses outside London. I also offer specialist and minimally invasive treatment for prostatic enlargement and other benign prostatic disorders. I also manage female urinary incontinence and recurrent urinary tract infections.
To date I have performed thousands of cystoscopies, (bladder inspections) and many hundreds of core urological procedures including circumcision, scrotal work and prostate resection. I also perform Urolift and all operations for Peyronie's disease and erectile failure including grafting techniques and penile prosthesis surgery.
I am trustee of the British Association of Urological Surgeons and the Honorary Secretary Elect. I am the Editor in Chief of the Journal of Clinical Urology and regularly advise the Parliamentary Health Service, Ombudsman, NICE and the NIHR on urological issues.
In addition to a busy clinical workload, I am a Honorary Professor at the University of Salford and a Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Manchester. I am a board member and senior examiner for the FRCS (Urol) exam and sit on several national committees.
In 2011, I was awarded the BAUS Harolf Hopkins Golden Telescope Award for a significant and lasting contribution to urology.
