Professional profile

Soon after my graduation from medical school, I decided to pursue a career in Trauma and Orthopaedics surgery where I started my training in Cairo-Egypt.  I then moved to the UK where I continued my training as an Orthopaedic surgeon. I worked in this speciality for 13 years in total which I thoroughly enjoyed, however due to family reasons I decided to change my career path to become a GP with special interest in Orthopaedics and Musculoskeletal medicine. This role has allowed me to continue my learning and keep myself up to date with the developments in this area of medicine.

In 2006 (three years after starting my new GP career) I was offered the job of a GP with special interest in upper limb and hand problems by the Health Board, this role involved a dedicated clinic at my practice in Wrexham (Plas-Y-Bryn Surgery.) To see patients from across North Wales area who required further interventions, like joint injections Carpal tunnel and trigger finger release surgery which I have performed in my Surgery. This was carried out from 2006 until 2018. This Service was very successful judged by the service reviews and audits which was presented to the health Board and gained an outstanding satisfaction and admiration.

Because of my love of sports and background experience in Orthopaedics and trauma, I decided to study sport and exercise medicine. I gained a Diploma in sport and exercise medicine from Bath University in 2010. This has allowed me to work as a team doctor on a part time basis for Wrexham FC and the Crusaders Rugby League Clubs in Wrexham.

Later on I was fortunate to be offered a job as the team doctor for a Premier league football club, Everton FC, from 2015-2019.  I was privileged to be the clinical director of the club over the last two years of my employment there, before I decided to return back to my General Practice career in March 2019.

I am currently working as a general medical practitioner with specialist role in management of musculoskeletal problems. However I also enjoy general practice as a whole and I have recently been validated by the GMC for five years until 2024.
