Erectile dysfunction clinic

Erectile dysfunction may be a sign of a heart condition. A confidential consultation with our specialist can help diagnose your impotence.

At the South Wales Heart Centre we understand that suffering with erectile dysfunction can be distressing. The condition can affect your self-esteem and prevent you from having a full relationship with your partner. Erectile dysfunction can often be an early sign of a heart condition which can increase your risk of a heart attack. Our leading consultants and multi-disciplinary team help diagnose the cause of your impotence and effectively manage or treat any underlying heart condition if present.

About erectile dysfunction

In 20% of cases erectile dysfunction has psychological roots but is usually an early indication of other conditions, particularly those relating to blood flow (vascular disease) to the heart.

Erectile dysfunction (or impotence) affects many men, particularly those over 40. Research suggests that up to 50% of men aged between 40 and 70 have some difficulty getting or maintaining an erection (Journal of Urology, May 2012).

Why choose us?

As the leading provider of private cardiology in Wales, we pride ourselves on offering superior cardiac care to individuals who may be at risk due to erectile dysfunction.

Recognising the complex factors at play, we will draw on the expertise of our experienced and caring clinicians from a range of backgrounds and use a variety of tests to identify the cause of your impotence.

Not knowing the underlying cause can be frustrating. Some of our diagnostic tests will establish whether your impotence is related to risk factors associated with vascular (blood vessels such as veins and arteries) or cardiac disease. This then enables you and your consultant to discuss how to put this right.

Our clinic is conducted in a modern and state of the art environment where we are dedicated to your wellbeing and tailor care to you as an individual.

We understand that time is a factor and offer patients the opportunity to have a consultation and diagnosis all on the same day, enabling you to be fully informed regarding potential management or treatments available to you.

Whether you simply opt for a consultation, or diagnosis and treatment, appointments are readily available with a choice of time that is convenient for you.

There are a number of treatment options available including stenting of the arteries that supplies the penis with blood or penile implants. Artery stenting is a new technique which is currently unique in the UK. This has been pioneered worldwide by our consultants, with excellent success rates and very few complications.

After your diagnosis your consultant will be able to discuss all the treatments relevant to your case in detail so you know exactly what to expect.
