Specialises in

I have been a consultant cardiologist for 11 years. I have a PhD and prize-winning research in the mechanisms underlying heart attacks. I have contributed to worldwide practice changes in the fields of arterial access (radial) for coronary intervention and acute heart attack treatment. I was one of the team leaders of the first TAVI in Wales.

Percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), coronary angiograms with a special interest in complex procedures and chronic total occlusion. Transoesophogeal echocardiography. Percutaneous heart valve therapies especially aortic stenosis and Transcatheter Aortic Valve Intervention (TAVI).

To date I have performed over 6,000 coronary angiograms and 3,000 coronary angioplasties with an emphasis on radial arterial access and include rotablation, chronic total occlusion and intra-coronary imaging. I have performed approximately 1,000 trans-oesophogeal echos and 300 TAVI procedures.

I am now Catheterization Laboratory Director, Morriston Hospital and Radiation Protection Lead. In addition to my clinical work, I am also proud to be an honorary professor at the University of Swansea Medical College.

Hon Professor. Swansea University Medical School

I am a keen windsurfer making the most of Gower’s beautiful beaches and bad weather. I am a qualified WRU rugby coach and SCUBA divemaster. In the Summer of 2018 I captained one of Swansea Lawn Tennis Club men’s teams and played cricket badly for a charity team called ‘The Badgers’. As a member of Pontaddulais Male Voice, I won the National Eisteddfod 2018.
