My senior house officer training was initially in London and in the Yorkshire region. I obtained my London MD in the genetics of coronary artery disease with research interests in inflammation, infection and coronary artery disease. As an Interventional Cardiologist, I have led and introduced complex interventions and have provided several aspects of interventions in Wales, including the Radial Approach, Rotational Atherectomy, the use of lasers in cardiology interventions, and various aspects dealing with Chronic Total Occlusions.
As the Clinical Lead for the Chest Pain Service for Cardiff and Vale Trust and have led several projects on the primary - secondary care interface. As an Interventional Cardiologist, I have led and introduced complex interventions and have provided several aspects of interventions in Wales, including the Radial Approach, Rotational Atherectomy, the use of lasers in cardiology interventions, and various aspects dealing with Chronic Total Occlusions. As part of my interventional cardiology work specialty I perform coronary angiograms and angiplasty for unsable angina and chest pain.
I have perfromed over 3,300 angiograms and over 1,200 angioplasties over in both my NHS and private practice. Performed over 1,000 cardiac catheterisations, 500 PCIs as first operator and 150 as second operator. Further training gained in Trans-septal punctures and in Mitral valvuloplasty. I do between 2 to 300 PCIs’ a year, and especially complex PCI involving Rotablation and Laser. I am the Chronic Total Occlusion lead.
I currently sit on the MAC committee at Spire Cardiff Hospital.
