My main interest is the clinical management of patients with heart disease. In an era when doctors are trained to perform tests and procedures, my aim is to provide a clinical service, supported by technology not replaced by technology. This involves a closer involvement with patients, both before and after any procedures, not seeing the procedure as the end point. I am happy to see patients with a whole range of cardiac problems as the principles of sensible clinical management remain the same.

My main medical interest outside cardiology is Medical Law and Ethics. I have a Masters in Medical Law and sit on both research and clinical ethics committees. A significant proportion of the teaching I do, both under and post graduate, involves Medical Law and Ethics.
I am also interested in the role Medical Humanities can have in producing doctors better able to assess their patients needs.Back to top
