I have worked as a Sports Physician within professional sport for over 20 years. I treat a wide variety of sports and musculoskeletal injuries.
I am the current WRU National Team Doctor, having held this prestigious post since 2012. I was also appointed Team Doctor to the British & Irish Lions for their tour to South Africa in 2021.
I am a general Sports Physician with a wide range of experience in treating a wide variety of Musculoskeletal problems which do not have to be sports related. I perform a wide variety of joint and soft tissue injections including steroid, platelet rich plasma, autologous blood, and viscosupplement. I can guide these injections with MSK ultrasound when needed. I perform over 300 joint and soft tissue injections per year and have been performing such injections for 30 years.
I am a member of the WRU medical management committee. I am an elected member of the FSEM council. I am also a college examiner for the Faculty of Sports and Exercise Medicine in Edinburgh. I am a tutor and examiner for the Sports and Exercise Medicine MSc courses in Bath University.
I have a PG Certificate in diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound and regularly perform diagnostic ultrasounds as an extension of my clinical assessment where appropriate. This modality can be used to guide certain therapeutic injections when needed.

COVID-19 testing or antibody tests are not available as a standalone service at Spire Cardiff Hospital.

I'm a keen sportsman and enjoy keeping fit. I enjoy taking advantage of the beautiful Welsh countryside when time permits. I am happily married, living in the Vale of Glamorgan. We have two grown up sons who have flown the nest.
