Spire Cambridge Lea Hospital opens doors to a new experience in private out-patients

06 June 2014

Following substantial interior design and build work, Spire Cambridge Lea Hospital has unveiled its new state-of-the-art reception and out-patient suite.

Spire Cambridge Lea Hospital’s warm welcome begins at the front door, where patients and visitors from across the UK and overseas will be greeted within a uniquely stylish reception area and exclusive Cambridge themed out-patient suite.

The front of house area has undergone a major design led transformation to create a unique blend of quality and comfort. The hospital pays tribute to its historic home city with Cambridge-inspired artwork and room titles throughout the building.

This £1.4m enhancement to the facility completes the third stage of the hospital’s 2014 redevelopment along with the recent redesign of their out-patient suite.

Spire Cambridge Lea Hospital will celebrate the completion of this phase of its redevelopment with an official opening on Friday 13th June where special guest Cambridgeshire MP and former health secretary Mr Andrew Lansley will be cutting the ribbon.

Continuing its commitment to provide patients with high quality treatment, Spire Cambridge Lea Hospital has invested more than £11m over the past seven years with an ongoing programme of development to deliver some of the latest in healthcare services, technologies and equipment.

Spire Cambridge Lea Hospital has introduced a number of new services recently:

  • The SmartPil, small device that can be swallowed to assess the function of the stomach and bowel.

  • Stealth Station S7, the image-guided stealth system that works like a satnav for the spine.

  • Obalon, a brand new weight-loss treatment in the UK.

  • Autologous Cell Therapy, for the treatment of arthritis and cartilage regeneration.

Says Toni Gilson, Business Development Manager at Spire Cambridge Lea Hospital, “I am extremely proud of our hospital and the service we provide to our patients and consultants. Good hospitality goes hand in hand with best in class patient care and our commitment to providing our patients with the latest equipment is now complemented by the extensive redevelopment work to enhance our facility.”

Built in 1987, the hospital now employs more than 250 people and works in partnership with 240 consultants. It offers 68 beds, 22 consulting rooms, five theatres, on site MRI, CT, Ultrasound, Xray, Dexa Scanners, a stand alone physiotherapy facility and a discreet womens’ health suite.

Now that’s certainly something to celebrate!
