I have worked as a consultant rheumatologist at the West Suffolk Hospital for over 24 years. I also have a decade of experience in emergency medicine. I still manage the full range of musculoskeletal and inflammatory disorders on a daily basis.

I specialise in the early diagnosis and treatment of inflammation based arthritis, for instance rheumatoid, psoriatic and reactive arthritis. With appropriate conventional treatment tailored specifically to the individual the majority of patients will have the disease well controlled with a much reduced risk of long term problems. For patients with long standing diseases, I have over 15 years' experience in the use of the 'biological' treatments for arthritis conditions. The cost of these drugs have halved recently, however, for the NHS access to these treatments are subject to the same restrictions.

In my every day work I manage all of the common musculoskeletal conditions such as back pain, neck pain, osteoprosis and polymyalgia etc.

In rheumatology good results require a close working relationship between the specialist and the patient over time. To see how seriously I take this relationship see up to date feedback from my patients and colleagues on the "Reviews" page at RheumatologyUK.com.

In 2016 the British Society for Rheumatology named me as a 'Distinguished member' for my contribution to the specialty. My key interest is the diagnosis, assessment and treatment of 'early arthritis'.

To find out how my patients and colleagues regard me see their 2016 feedback on my website.
