Some of the principal treatments carried out by Mr Manoah Pancharatnam at Spire include:
Urology: Bladder cancer, Prostate cancer, Paediatric urology, Erectile dysfunction, Urological cancers, Urinary tract infections, Benign prostate diseases, Reconstructive Urology, Hypospadias surgery
I spent three years as a senior registrar in urology at the Institute of Urology in London and at the Royal Marsden. I gained invaluable experience there, working with world renowned surgeons.
Having completed my training, I was offered a consultant post in Saudi Arabia, where I later became Head of Urology until my return to the UK. As a young consultant in the Middle East, I had an enormous variety of urological problems to deal with. This was where my interest in difficult reconstruction of the urinary tract began. I reconstructed ureters, bladders, urethras and undertook very complex Vesico vaginal fistula repairs.
I was then appointed Consultant Urological Surgeon at West Herts NHS Hospitals Trust where I was able to use my general surgical and urological experience to pioneer and reconstruct a bladder following a total cystoprostatectomy in 1995, which was the first in Hertfordshire and one of the earliest in the country. My main interest is bladder cancer, diagnosis and treatment. I perform an average of 20 total cystectomies a year. So far I have reconstructed 184 neo bladders which ranks as the highest for an individual surgeon in the UK
Although a large proportion of my time is spent dealing with prostate and bladder cancers, I still continue with my early interest in paediatric urology, and at present I deal with common urological problems including hypospadias repairs.

I am married and have three children; my two boys are keen cricketers and represent Herts County, and my daughter is keen on ballet, netball and playing the piano. I enjoy both playing and watching tennis, cricket, table tennis and badminton. My family's favourite holiday is in Portugal where we can all relax and enjoy the beach.Back to top
