Come along to our free information about bunion treatments with our specialist consultant Mr David Gordon on Thursday 9 …
Some of the principal treatments carried out by Mr Laurie Montgomery Irvine at Spire include:
Mr Irvine qualified in 1981 from Charing Cross Hospital, passed the MRCOG in 1986 and was awarded an MD (Lond) in 1993. He spent most of his training in London, at the Royal Free Hospital and St Bartholomew's Hospital.
He was appointed Consultant at Watford General Hospital in 1995 and has consulted at Spire Bushey Hospital since then. His main areas of clinical work at Spire are menstrual disorders, benign gynaecology and ectopic pregnancy. He has published papers on ectopic pregnancy in medical literature. When possible he manages ectopic pregnancy surgery laparoscopically.
A special interest is management of women who have had one previous caesarean section, and he sees women before a subsequent pregnancy to discuss current options and to discuss any concerns about a subsequent pregnancy. Although not always possible, Mr Irvine believes in evidence-based medicine, although care should be tailored to the individual woman and her wishes respected.
Mr Irvine also has a special interest in women who have had a previous baby born by caesarean section. It is sometimes the case that women are unsure as to the reasons for caesarean section and also about the timing of a subsequent pregnancy. Also, there may be concerns about decisions on delivery. He is happy to see women in his clinic at Spire Bushey Hospital to discuss these issues with those who are contemplating a further pregnancy.
