Specialises in

I am a Consultant Upper Gastrointestinal and General Surgeon, qualified from the Royal Free Hospital School of Medicine in 1999, passing with Distinction and achieving several prizes. I undertook postgraduate surgical training in London, and during this time, conducted specialist research in Pancreatic Islet Cell transplantation. Having completed my training in 2011 (FRCS), I pursued fellowships in Advanced Laparoscopic and Bariatric surgery at UCLH, and complex oesophagogastric cancer surgery at the Royal Marsden Hospital.

I have had extensive experience in laparascopic (keyhole) and open surgery, particularly in the field of gallbladder, antireflux and hernia surgery. I manage a wide range of simple and complex operations that often require tertiary centre referral (UCLH) and I am delighted to offer my expertise at Spire Bushey.

I carry out approximately 200 laparoscopic hernia and gallbladder operations per year. I have gained a reputation for teaching, training and has excellent published outcomes in oesophago-gastric surgery.

I specialise in laparoscopic (keyhole) and open general and upper gastrointestinal surgery with specific interest in Laparoscopic Gallbladder surgery; Laparoscopic and open hernia surgery; Abdominal wall reconstructions; Endoscopy; Benign Complex and Malignant (cancer) Oesophagogastric surgery; Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery; Laparoscopic Primary and Revision Antireflux surgery; Laparoscopic surgery for Achalasia.

I was appointed as a consultant surgeon at UCLH in 2013 and I am the chair of the regional specialist oesophago-gastric MDT and the emergency care transformation programme at UCLH. Furthermore, I am committed to ongoing research and I am a Principal Investigator in Endostim Antireflux surgery and the forthcoming Proton Beam Therapy for oesophageal cancer. I'm currently developing the Robotic programme in oesophago-gastric cancer surgery at UCLH.

In addition to my clinical work I am an honorary senior lecturer at University College London.
