Mr Aresh Hashemi-Nejad was appointed both as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (RNOH) in Stanmore and Honorary Senior Lecturer at University College London in 1997. Mr Hashemi-Nejad carried out his undergraduate training at Guy's Hospital Medical School, graduating in 1985. Following training rotations at St Bartholomew's, Great Ormond Street, The Brompton Hospital and Guy's Hospital, he started on the North London Rotation Programme from the Royal Free Hospital, and. was appointed Senior Registrar to the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in 1994. He spent one year as Clinical Lecturer at the RNOH in the Institute of Orthopaedics and then undertook a one-year fellowship at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto before his appointment to Consultant at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital.
Mr Hashemi-Nejad is involved in clinical research and publishing outcomes from operations he performs, and is regularly invited to national and international meetings. He was awarded the American-British-Canadian Travelling Fellowship in 2006, representing British orthopaedics and visiting 20 centres in the United States. In 2011 he was one of only four orthopaedic surgeons nominated in The Times' top 100 doctors. Mr Hashemi-Nejad's main clinical interests are in young adult hip preservation surgery including hip arthroscopy, hip osteotomy and hip replacement surgery. He also deals with paediatric orthopaedic problems. At the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital he has a tertiary practice with these complex problems. In addition he also deals with a significant number of lower limb conditions including foot, ankle and knee problems.
Mr Hashemi-Nejad is known for his caring and empathetic nature towards patients and always tries to allow appropriate time for patients attending his out-patient clinics. He takes time to discuss all the options available to each of his patients and receives. very positive feedback from patients, GPs and fellow consultants.
