Professional profile

I am a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon based at Watford General Hospital and St Albans City Hospital. I have acquired over nine years of experience in cataract surgery and over five years of experience in Medical Retina. I am the Lead Consultant in Age-related Macular Degeneration at West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust.

I specialise in the management of Age-related Macular Degeneration, Diabetic Eye disease and Retinal Vein Occlusions. I have expertise in the Management of both Retinal and Macula disease with Laser and Intravitreal therapies. In addition to this I also provides services in Glaucoma and General Ophthalmology.

To date I have performed over 2,000 cataract operations, over 3,000 intravitreal injections including Ozurdex and Illuvein, and over 1,000 retinal lasers.

I am involved in teaching and training both at an undergraduate and postgraduate level.

In addition to my clinical work I have also been on the advisory board for Bayer.

I am committed to compassionate and thoughtful consultation whilst taking into account an individualised and evidence based approach to treatment.

I have presented at conferences at a national and international level, and has also been a sub-investigator for clinical trials investigating the use of intravitreal treatment, for AMD and Vitreomacular traction. I also regularly teach at study days for local General Practitioners and Optometrists.
