Specialises in
I have been a Consultant Surgeon in Bristol since 1995. I specialise in all aspects of breast surgery, especially in the management of breast cancer and reconstructive surgery. I have a particular research interest in the use of molecular pathology testing of sentinel lymph nodes in breast cancer and in quality of life.
I almost exclusively treat patients with a wide variety of breast disorders and in particular specialise in breast cancer and in reconstructive surgery for patients requiring mastectomy as part of their treatment.
I trained in London as an undergraduate and postgraduate and developed an interest in surgical oncology and in particular breast cancer whilst I was at the Royal Marsden Hospital and at St George's Hospital. I took up the post of consultant in surgery at the Bristol Royal Infirmary in 1995. I began offering a breast reconstruction service immediately and have a particular interest in this aspect of treatment, when required for breast cancer. I have published extensively on various aspects of breast cancer treatment. I am currently director of the Bristol Breast Unit and research lead for our regional breast cancer network.
