I have over 10 years of Consultant experience within the NHS and was appointed as a Consultant Surgeon at Bristol Royal Infirmary in 2005. I have a special interest in surgery of the liver, gallbladder, bile duct and pancreas.

I graduated from Cambridge University (1988) and Oxford University Medical School (1991). I underwent surgical training in Liverpool and Edinburgh, where I trained in General and Hepato-Pancreatico-Biliary (HPB) Surgery, including multi-organ transplantation (kidney, liver and pancreas). This included a fellowship as Senior Registrar at Flinders Medical Centre, Adelaide, Australia. At the completion of my training, I was awarded the gold medal for the Intercollegiate Examination of the Royal College of Surgeons.

I am a core member of the Avon Somerset and Wiltshire HPB Cancer Network MDT and receive referrals from GPs and other Consultant Surgeons and Physicians from the wider South West Region. I provide a benign biliary service for the local population specialising in surgery for gallstones and advanced laparoscopic surgery.

Positions of responsibility within the NHS: Lead Surgeon for HPB Surgery (2009-2013); Patient Safety Lead for Surgery (2009-2013); Clinical Director for Surgery at Bristol Royal Infirmary (2013-2014); Member of the South West Regional Clinical Senate; Elected (2014) to the Council of the Great Britain and Ireland HPB Association (GBIHPBA).
