mako
After seeing an advert for Mako robotic surgery, I booked my first consultation with Mr Jain. I liked the sound of the advantages of Mako, with less recovery time and a more accurate outcome. After looking into it further I decided to go ahead with the intention of getting it done ASAP.

About three years ago I started having groin pains and was diagnosed as needing a new hip. Over a period of time this got worse and it was suggested by my GP that I should take a cocktail of pain killers. I put up with this for a further 12 months as I did not want another major operation.

After seeing an advert for the Mako robotic surgery, I booked my first consultation. I liked the sound of the advantages of Mako, with less recovery time and more accurate outcomes. After looking into it further I decided to go ahead with the intention of getting it done ASAP.

I was impressed with Spire Little Aston and the staff at all times and it was nice to always be seen on time and treated with respect.

I was surprised by the amount of pre-op preparation and attention to ensure a good outcome. On arrival for surgery, I was very impressed with the room. I did have to wait longer than initially told for the op but was told this was because of the set up for Mako.

The general anaesthetic and the surgery was a painless experience and I was pleased to be seen by Mr Jain afterwards who told me all was well and he had also corrected a 7mm discrepancy in the length of my legs as a result of the knee replacement.

The operation was on the Monday evening, the physios had me in the gym the next morning. Once home, I managed to cope well and was in my local pub by Friday.

I managed to do without crutches after three weeks, stopped all pain killers and am now going to the gym and riding my bicycle four weeks post surgery.

Thanks to all the staff at Spire Little Aston Hospital - I would recommend you to anyone.
