All general ophthalmology
I am a member of The Liverpool Eye Clinic based at the Penny Lane Clinic, Spire Liverpool. I also currently practice at St Paul's Eye Unit, Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS trust. I am Chair Professor of Clinical Ophthalmology, Department of Eye and Vision Science, University of Liverpool and Honorary Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon, St. Paul’s Eye Unit, Royal Liverpool University Hospital.
I specialise in the diagnosis and management of retinal diseases including diabetic retinopathy and age-related macular degeneration for which I lead a number of national and international research programmes.
I lead a large research group in ophthalmology and vision science in Liverpool with active research programmes in cell and molecular biology, bioengineering, image analysis, computer science, biostatistics and clinical studies. I have written or contributed to 170 major publications and hold grants from major research bodies including MRC, EPSRC, NIHR, NIH and Wellcome Trust.
