I qualified as a Dietitian in 1998 and I have experience in both hospital and community dietetics. I currently work in Cardiff and Vale UHB and I specialise in supporting people with weight loss. I am trained in a counselling approach called 'Motivational Interviewing' and I am a member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers which means that I train other health professionals.
Early in my career I realised how challenging it is for people to lose weight and I felt I lacked the skills and knowledge to be helpful. For the past 15 years I have focused on learning and understanding more about weight management and researching what approaches are most effective.
In addition to using Motivational Interviewing, I support people by offering regular follow ups, developing individualised meal plans, and focusing on long-term behaviour changes to maintain weight loss.
Special Clinical Interests: Diet, weight loss, non-surgical weight loss.
